100% Convinced

It was getting towards the end of the presentation and I had enjoyed every minute.

I’m not kidding, he was compelling, the information was relevant and I loved his presence on stage. Some people in the audience had questions and he handled them really well. He looked relaxed, confident, like he was enjoying himself.

Then he mentioned his book. That’s when things changed. He started talking faster, his mumbled and stumbled and within a few seconds had moved on to the next slide and the next topic.

A woman put up her hand and asked where she could buy his book. He said, “oh come up to me after the presentation and I’ll give you in the information.”

I was shocked. What a missed opportunity. There was interest, even fascination about his work and he was so uncomfortable with what he could offer.

Kind of like that time the woman on the webinar got to talking about her program. Again, she had been in great flow when she spoke about the work, all the amazing content she was sharing. As soon as she spoke about her program, she seemed to lose confidence and started rushing and sped through the rest of her presentation.

I notice this happens a lot. Does it feel familiar to you?

We know the work is good but it’s really hard to shift into sales mode. It feels uncomfortable. It feels hard and we get worried people will drop off the call, leave, get upset.

Well, it’s time for this to STOP.

And believe me, I speak from experience here.

It was always MUCH easier for me to talk about the power of storytelling and all the amazing insights I’ve gained over the last 20 years of working with story.

But then to have to sell a service or a program, that felt like hell.

I was reminded of this just yesterday when I listened to a great webinar and when it got to the sales part, she simply said, “I know that this can help you. I’m convinced this program is exceptional, like nothing else in this space. This can change your life”.

She was unapologetic. She was totally convincing. I LOVED it.

It was so powerful. A women standing for what she knows, what she believes is true and willing to call you out on your doubts.

It’s a strong lesson.

Are you totally convinced that what you sell is right for your ideal client? That you can change minds, hearts, lives with what you offer? Are you willing to take a stand for that?

Well, you should. You know your stuff. It may not be perfect, but if you’re serious about your business, it’s worth a lot.

It can make a difference to others and by playing small, you’re not giving yourself or your clients a chance.

It’s time to take a stand. To say yes, 100%, this is good work. This will make a difference to your business and your life. You should try this, you should buy this. I’m convinced.

It’s amazing what happens when you’re willing to do this. It’s completely transformed my results and it can yours too.
