Move it move it!

Can you remember a time when a story moved you?

Was it recent?  Was it this week or even today?

Over the last few months I have been deeply moved by so many personal stories.  These were stories of joy, sadness, regret, surprise, love, loss, hatred, revenge and escape.  And that’s just to name a few!  In each story I was taken on a wonderful journey and though the experiences described in the story were not my own experience, nevertheless, I felt all of those emotions.

These are the stories of the human condition and we are surrounded by them every day.

Here’s the thing though, we often don’t notice or we don’t pay attention.  We are often too busy, preoccupied, multi-tasking or distracted.  The paradox is that this is usually the very thing we are looking for.

This may be provocative to say but I believe that we are all craving to feel more.  We want to have intense emotional experiences. And we are frightened of them at the same time.

Isn’t that why there is more prescription drug abuse, obesity and depression than ever before?  We are numbing ourselves to the very experience we, in our deepest souls, long to feel.

Ironically, all we have to do is reach out, watch, touch, notice and most importantly, listen.

The STORY is the key.  When we hear an authentic story, we are moved because it connects to our own emotional experience.  This is life force, the story is the way we express the most meaningful experiences of our lives.  And it’s how we connect most deeply.

Can you imagine how powerful that is in your coaching or in your business?

You can go on thinking that your business is your business and your story is completely disconnected.  Or you can assume that no one wants to hear your story, but you’re missing out on the potential to connect with people in a whole new way.

You may be saying, but who wants to hear my story?  The simply answer is, you’d be surprised!! What I can tell you for sure is that the people who connect with your story, who are really interested and want to hear more and more, they are your ideal clients.

And you’re right, it’s not everyone.  But when you use your authentic voice, your real story, to talk about who you are and what you do…. the right people show up.  And you can offer them the very best value and deliver your gift to the world.

Sound a bit new-age-y?  The ‘deliver your gift to the world’ thing?  Well, I have a confession to make.  I really DO believe that you have something important to do in the world.  And if you’re not doing it, well, shame on you.  You’re wasting your precious time.

What you do is exceptional.  Your story is different to everyone else’s.  And you can tell it best, you lived it.  So go ahead.  Be brave.  Get out there.  Tell Your Story.  Connect with People.  And live your life.  Go on.  You have an important story to tell.  Tell it.

And you can start by sharing it here!
