A wonderful evening with Marianne Williamson
Have you ever been so sure about something, you
said you were willing to bet your last dollar on
it?
Have you ever been convinced that you couldn’t
possibly be wrong about something specific?
Have you ever been delighted by the knowledge that
you totally understand a situation and there can
be no other way?
If the answer to any of the above was yes, then
you must be familiar with the feeling of being
wrong…and probably more than once!
It may have been devastating, or could it possibly
have been an opportunity or even empowering?
Marianne Williamson said, ‘some people would
rather die than change their mind’ when I attended
her wonderful lecture this week.
Actually she said lots of things, and I’ve been
reeling and rejoicing with the inspiring and
thought-provoking words she delivered.
‘Some people would rather die than change their
mind.’
The kids are fighting and can’t see each other’s
view.
The boss won’t listen to your suggestion.
Your partner is adamant about what YOU said when
you fought.
The meeting is going all wrong.
Your mother only sees the unreached potential in
you.
It goes on and on and on….
Marianne Williamson said “there is no greater
power that the agreement of two
people…everything is possible when we consider
the possibility that there might be another
way…”
These words spoken in a conflict-stricken land on
the tenth anniversary of 9/11 was very poignant,
to say the least.
I was moved by her sensitivity, her humble
approach. I was moved by the amount of love and
grief and pain and beauty in the room. I was
moved by the feeling of inner harmony and peace
despite the chaos that lives around us.
I realized truly that everything is possible.
And that everything starts right here, in the mind
and in the heart.
That the agreement of two people is more powerful
than all.
I makes me thing about the agreement between the
storyteller and the listener, between the coach
and the client.
If I can hear your story and you hear mine, we
get to experience true connection and become
co-creators of our joint story. We become one.
And isn’t that more than half the battle, isn’t
that more powerful than all?
Will you change your mind? Will you connect
through story?
I’d love to hear how, you can share your ideas below.
Best wishes and best stories
Lisa
